Marilyn E. Maynard served as the Chief Legal Officer for the Clerk of Superior Court of Wake County, North Carolina prior to becoming of counsel to Becker Law in 2005. In her previous position she presided over and made rulings in over fifty cases a week involving adoptions, guardianships, wills, estates, foreclosures, condemnations, real property partitions and related special proceedings. Before assuming the post of Chief Legal Officer, Ms. Maynard engaged in the solo practice of law for nine years. While in solo practice, she represented clients in the areas of business start-up, equine law, family law, real property law, and wills and estates. She continues to practice in these areas.

Ms. Maynard holds a juris doctorate degree from North Carolina Central University’s School of Law, a Master’s degree from UNC-Greensboro, and a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. Ms. Maynard is a member of the Wake County Real Property Lawyers Association, the Wake County Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina and before the United States Supreme Court.  While continuing to serve on the Advisory Board to the Episcopal Ministry at NC State University, she also remains a member of Life Decisions Coalition and the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys.
